It's always something

So, this weekend was not as productive as I wanted it to be (wedding out of town and getting to catch up with amazing friends got in the way).  I finally bit the bullet and ordered updated materials from Yeager CPA Review which was sent express mail via the lovely postal service (insert sarcastic remark here).  My materials were supposed to be delivered by noon on Friday and when I got home after work I had no package waiting for me.  I figured I would come back Sunday and my package would be waiting for me but of course we pull up Sunday and no package to be found.  I called the post office this morning and the lady I spoke to told me they had no idea where my package was.  How is this possible when there is a tracking number associated with my package.  Is that not the whole reason for tracking numbers?  Needless to say I was supposed to get a call sometime today which later turned into one business day when I called them to find out if they had located my package.

I reached out to team Yeager and if you have ever talked to the wonderful people at Yeager CPA Review you know their are known for their outstanding customer service (I am sure there are a few people that might disagree but I speak from personal experience).  They informed me that they will be sending me another package via UPS and once I receive the other materials to just send those back.  I seriously was about to have a nervous breakdown.  I could feel the tears coming because I am actually into studying and a wrench gets thrown my way.  I don't normally cry, however, it's that one time of the month I am an emotional wreck where even I can't stand myself.  Any little thing makes me cry.

I went through "Professional Responsibilities" and I got most of the answers correct.  I missed a few from not reading the question correctly and some from my lack of understanding of the material.  When I went over some of the questions I kid you not I used some of the knowledge from TV shows to pick the correct annswer.  One question I remember asked if one can keep the name of past partners on the name of the firm and of course my mind went to the TV show "Suits." I remembered that the name of the firm is Pearson Hardman, however, Daniel Hardman was muscled out and yet his name remained on the door till one of the last episodes when it was taken down.  I remember useless things and why not use that useless crap taking up space in my brain for something  that will actually help me in passing the exam.  I have used some stuff I have seen on "The Goodwife" to try and narrow down answers as well. There should be a CPA exam content related TV show out there.  I bet we would all pass because we would remember all the information covered.

Tonight I will be taking on "Audit Evidence."  My goal is to go through everything once by Sunday and then I will start my final review which will be questions over and over and over and over and over and over and over (you get the point).

Break Ups to Makeups

I had to get the 2013 Wiley textbook for audit since the one I was using was from 2012.  Not the smartest idea since we have the new updates that will be tested in July.  It's amazing how much I had forgotten since I had not studied for audit in a few weeks.  I definitely have to stay on track if I am going to pull off that 75.  I know its possible to pass, I just need to fully dedicate myself to studying.

I always look at studying for the CPA exam as a being in a relationship.  Constantly trying new things when it comes to studying in an effort to find what really works so you are not so miserable.  The main reason I chose the title for this blog was my constant break up with Yeager CPA review and then I always come back to them.  I have come to terms with the fact that Gary is a great instructor and is very knowledgeable but then again I do have to give the man a break because its audit and no matter how hard one can try there is no making audit more exciting. I finally decided to give him another chance and actually listen to the lectures and take notes without constantly telling myself that its awful.  Yesterday I reviewed Module 1 which is professional responsibilities and I was actually amazed at how much I learned.  It was not so much the material being covered during the lectures but the little tricks he gave to answer multiple choice questions.  I always find myself getting the questions that ask "which of these is not..." and after listening to good ole Gary Bulmash, there is no reason for me to ever get those questions (well that's if I actually know the material, which I will!).

So, once again I have to give my credit to Gary.  I am determined to make this relationship work till I get that 75 and kick him to the curb and move on to my next new love.

I plan on finishing up the Wiley testbank questions under "Professional Responsibilities" today and then tomorrow moving on to "Engagement Planning."  I have a wedding this weekend so I will be getting up early tomorrow and heading to Panera when they open at 6am.  Since the wedding is at 2pm, I plan on studying from around 630am till 1030am.

Happy Studying!
